This is currently the most prominent large-scale energy project in Marathon County.

Project details (according to Alliant Energy’s website)

·         Proposed size:  approximately 150 MW

·         Estimated turbines:  28-38  industrial wind turbines

Proposed locations:

• Town of Brighton

• Town of Eau Pleine

• Town of Cleveland

• Town of McMillan

• Town of Day

• Town of Green Valley

·         Expected annual generation:  about 450,000 MWh

·         Estimated homes powered: roughly 45,000 homes

·         Current status: pre-application development stage

·         Planned PSC filing: 2026

·         Earliest construction: 2028

·         Earliest operation: 2029

The project has become the focus of Marathon County’s newly formed Alternative Energy Project Local Impact Advisory Committee, which is currently evaluating issues such as road use, public impacts, revenue sharing, local agreements, and potential Joint Development Agreements (JDAs).
